We are in the process of creating a global network of musicians and artists, connecting like-minded creative beings from around the world who are using their talents for socially responsible positive change. Together, we will unite as global community, and develop a number of projects to teach it forward and mobilize society members. Check out a few of the artists already confirmed on this project below!
Who Inspires You?
We want to know! We are taking recommendations for musicians to work with, both inside the US and outside the US.
American rapper and activist Richard Williams, better known as Prince Ea, was our very first musician to confirm his participation in this initiative! We are honored to feature his music which discusses topics like politics, sociality, environmentalism and life issues.
Will you be the next musician to join our journey?
We are excited to announce another inspiring musician, Penn Johnson, has joined our collaborative effort to build a global fusion CD. A storyteller by nature and a folksinger by trade, Penn has chiseled himself a genre dubbed SoulFolk Storytelling.
Last Fall, Ecostrings founder Marina Qutab traveled to various countries in the Middle East. She met with incredibly talented Activist Musicians who are using their music to advocate for social, political and environmental justice. It brings us immense joy to welcome Yarub Smarait, Jordanian violinist and composer, to the collaborative. Smarait is founding his own musical group that combines eastern music with some western styles to perform his own compositions and arrangements. He has performed worldwide. At the young age of seven, Smarait was recognized as a "talented and promising artist of his generation."
We are honored to announce the next musician on our team Tareq Jundi, Jordanian oud player and composer. Jundi started his journey with the oud at the age of 11 when he joined the preparatory section in the Jordan Academy for Music. He was taught by many Jordanian and Arab oud masters. He has performed worldwide, and is recognized as a gifted musician. In 2009, he was ranked the second in the International Oud Competition held at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in Lebanon. Jundi believes in the power of music to deliver messages about peace and justice and instill positive change.
We are thrilled to announce our next musician on our team Ashley Marie Mazanec. Ashley is an eco musician who works with an array of groups leading the sustainability movement. A performer since early childhood and recording since 2003, her music spans topics from drought to PTSD to climate change, always with an emphasis on compassion as a solution. Her creative work in eco entertainment has brought her to speak at festivals, universities, and businesses. The event series named after her 2016 album Let's Talk About the Weather showcases a fusion of scientific, professional, and artistic flair meant to entertain and inspire. Ashley's work can be heard on LA Talk Radio and corporate stores such as T.J. Maxx, Hershey's and Abercrombie Kids. You can catch her live solo and with her progressive rock band The Altruists, hosting eco art events, and supporting non-profits such as The San Diego Green Building Council, San Diego Water Protectors and Surfing Madonna Foundation. A partner and affiliated artist at the Climate Science Alliance, her work bridges the gap between the major environmental challenges of our time and the human condition.
We are thrilled to announce our next musician on our team, Chad Wilkins. From his lively, progressive grooves, to his deeply prayerful chants, spanning many genres, Chad’s rootsy folk anthems carry themes of love, gratitude, risk, honour, and pure vibrant LIFE(!) – giving voice to our cry for spiritual transformation, harmony with the Earth, and hope for a bright future. Touring extensively, Chad’s performance style is unique and spontaneous – whether performing solo, with his full band, or anywhere in between, he guides his listeners through an interactive journey ranging from dancing celebration to mindful meditation to sing-along declarations. Chad released his first full-length album “Show Us The Way Of The Heart” in 2014, and in 2015 his most recent release “This New Ancient Paradigm”, featuring the single “Live Love”. Welcome to the team, Chad!!
